Turning vision
into wellbeing
Harnessing innovation, courage and collaboration to change lives for the better.
What is The Centre for
Social Innovation?
The Centre for Social Innovation is a collaboration between Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB) and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), created to drive lasting cultural and behavioural change in the mental, physical and emotional wellbeing of people in West Wales.
We believe meaningful change starts with bold ideas and the freedom to test, adapt and learn. By connecting fast-moving innovators with the stability and scale of large organisations, we support initiatives that help people take ownership of their health, build resilience and reimagine what’s possible.
Our role is to seek out promising ideas, forge new partnerships, and prove that social innovation works by turning great concepts into measurable benefits for individuals and communities.
The centre
Our home is more than just a building, it’s a purpose-designed space for creativity, collaboration and change. Here, innovators, community members, and partners come together to share ideas, test solutions and turn concepts into action.
Equipped with flexible meeting areas, collaborative workspaces and the resources to support experimentation. The Centre is where bold thinking meets practical action to improve the wellbeing of West Wales.
Ideas Lab
The Ideas Lab is our space for bold thinking and practical problem-solving. It’s where we explore new ways to improve mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.
We give innovators the freedom to test, adapt and learn, while connecting them with the partners and resources needed to turn concepts into real-world impact.
By bringing together creative thinkers, community voices, and organisational expertise, we can challenge assumptions, respond to urgent challenges and prove that social innovation works. Every idea we test is an opportunity to make life in West Wales healthier, stronger and more connected.
